In the lead-up to the 26th anniversary of the June 4th massacre, the June 4th Museum held "The Living and the Dead — An Exhibition of Artifacts from the June 4th Massacre". Within the Museum, L-shaped glass display cabinets were set up to display artifacts from those who survived or were killed in the June 4th massacre. The displays included artifacts from Wang Nan and Wu Xiangdong, both of whom were killed in the massacre; their respective mothers, Zhang Xianling and Xu Jue, are members of the Tian'anmen Mothers and donated the artifacts to the Museum. The exhibition also featured evidential objects from survivors Fang Zheng and Zhang Jian.
